MISSION
P2P United is
dedicated to the:
- deepest possible understanding and lawful use of peer-to-peer
digital information sharing technology;
- broadest possible competition in the commercial marketplace
for goods and services deliverable by means of P2P technology; and
- widest possible use of P2P technology "to promote the Progress
of Science and useful Arts" consistent with the Constitution and
the laws of the nation.
OUR
WORK
P2P United is committed
to:
- maintaining effective communications channels between P2P
technology developers, companies, users and government officials
at all levels;
- shaping public policy that bears on P2P technology and its
many beneficial uses;
- developing and promulgating industry standards, best practices
and codes of ethics for P2P companies and those who do business
with them;
- promoting fair and balanced copyright and competition law, and
respect for such statutes;
- seeking fair methods of compensation for all copyright holders
whose material is made commercially available by means of P2P
technology;
- educating P2P technology users regarding related legal and
legislative issues; and
- championing and defending the rights and interests of P2P
technology users.
